In Responsible Money Ron Wright offers financial educators and students a thorough curriculum in personal finance. Trainers will find the teacher’s manual clear, easy to follow, and simple to implement. And the companion student workbook offers exercises and quizzes that will increase learners’ awareness of their financial habits and provide them with action items they can put into practice immediately. Everything you might need for a course in basic personal finance is here. Organized into six sessions, the training walks students through the basics of earning money, budgeting and saving, personal banking, understanding credit, and investing. At the same time, it helps students uncover their financial values and beliefs as it shows them how to manage their money and avoid common pitfalls. You can take this course straight to the classroom and help learners reach their money goals with awareness, intention, and ease.
Foreword
Financial literacy is one of the most important and impactful areas of study, but it is often disregarded in schools and community organizations. While studying the Responsible Money curriculum learners will be taught not just foundational skills, but how to acquire and hold on to wealth so their money works for them. This can lead to positive outcomes and have a multigenerational impact. The curriculum is organized into six sessions that can coincide with a school quarter, or as a small group course. These sessions include:
What Money Means to You
Sources of Money
Budgeting and Saving
Personal Banking
Understanding Credit
Responsible Investing
This curriculum can stand alone or be accompanied by mentor texts. The information is comprehensive and requires no prior financial knowledge or additional planning by teachers to deliver the instruction. Responsible Money is standards based and aligned with Common Core, CEE, Jumpstart, Family and Consumer Sciences and the C3 Framework for Social Studies.
Responsible Money was designed to help you explore your personal beliefs about money, dispel financial myths, and provide tips that can help you increase your financial stability.
This program will also help you develop a budget, and budgeting is the first step toward financial freedom. Whether you are unemployed or making six figures, having a budget will help you understand where your money is going. Budgeting will help you identify and reduce overspending. Reducing your expenses increases your revenue allowing you to save. Many Americans live paycheck to paycheck regardless of their income. Responsible Money can lead you to the road to financial freedom.
